I wanted to do the recording in NYC using New York musicians and since my good friend Ron Vincent lived there it made perfect sense for him to co-produce, facilitating the coordination of musicians and events there. I settled on the classic quintet format – piano, bass, drums, sax, and trumpet – and Ron called up the cats we decided on for the recording: Michael Moore on bass, Chris Potter on tenor and soprano sax, Randy Brecker on trumpet and flugel horn, and Ron, of course, on drums.
